1. What is multimedia technology? List the main components of multimedia.
The technology of combining text, still graphics, animation, moving pictures and sound using the computing power of PC is known as multimedia. For example TV shows, animated movies, online games, TV advertisements, video games, etc., because it has a feature of interactive.

Multimedia technology is a special computerized technique, which helps the user by providing techniques to combine texts, pictures, sound and video films including interactive facilities. It also provides facilities to the user to create store, edit, delete and copy those data in the computer with the help of specific computer program such as Microsoft Power point, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Flash etc.

2.What is multimedia hardware and multimedia software? Explain with examples.
Multimedia Hardware
Multimedia system requires some additional set of hardware to support such multimedia presentation are as follows. Computer set, Sound card, Sound blast DVD-ROM, Microphone, Headset, Digital camera Video adapter, high speed processor, high resolution monitor, etc.
Multimedia Software
Software that is used for multimedia application processing is known as multimedia software. Some multimedia software’s are Adobe Photoshop, Coral Draw, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Media Players, MS-PowerPoint, Adobe Premier Software’s etc.
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of multimedia technology?
Advantages of multimedia
• It is used to present ideas, information to others in effective ways.
• It is used to teach in class in interesting, and effective ways.
• Student can learn, read and test his/her knowledge using multimedia technology.
• A country can be used multimedia technology to uplift tourism sector of country.
• It is used for developing games and movies more realistic using multimedia technology.
• It is used in electronic advertising for creating more interesting.
• It is used in webs.
Disadvantages of multimedia
• The cost of developing a multimedia product is high.
• An ordinary computer cannot play multimedia.
• The skilled manpower is required to operate multimedia.
• It is an expensive technology.

Application of Multimedia
Multimedia technology is used in games, learning software, reference materials like encyclopedia, movies, web pages, advertisement, virtual reality and some others fields.
• Multimedia is used in education and Trainings. The use of multimedia in education is increasing rapidly. It is used to present the information in creative ways has led to the creation of rich learning environments. Multimedia enables students to grasp the concept of any subject easily and quickly. In addition, students retain the information for longer time.
• Multimedia is used in Business. Nowadays, multimedia is used in almost every aspect of business. To convey and present information about business or products multimedia is used in businesses.
• Multimedia is used in advertising. The advertisers find new and creative ways of advertising and marketing products through multimedia technology. Everything that the human mind can imagine can be presented realistically through the use of multimedia. This means that for advertisers who use this technology, there is no limit to the number of ways in which they can advertise a given product.
• Multimedia is used in game and movies. Multimedia is used in developing video games. There are many interesting video games like Snake and Ladder, Prince of Persia, PC-Man etc., where multimedia technology is used. In many movies, special effects are kept with the help of multimedia technology which is not possible without it. For example, Terminator, Titanic, Start Wars, Avatar, Fast and Furious, Jurassic Park, King Kong, Godzilla, Spiderman etc. are some English movies where special effects are used. Similarly, in video and audio songs multimedia technology is used to put some special effects.
• Multimedia is used in internet. Multimedia technology is widely used in the Internet for developing interactive websites. Information in websites is presented beautifully using multimedia technology.
5. What is Virtual Reality (VR)?
Virtual Reality is an artificial environment created with the computer hardware and software to present the information to the user in such a way that it appears real. To enter virtual reality, a user puts on special gloves, earphones and goggles, all of which receive inputs from the computer system. Today, virtual reality is primarily used in the entertainment industry but it is going to be very useful tool for simulation purposes and remote control applications. However, virtual reality systems require extremely expensive hardware and software. It uses virtual reality modeling language (VRML) for developing virtual reality products.
